Sci-Fi Poetry

Mars Night Café

(Based On “Night Café” by Vincent Van Gogh)

After hard day of work in mines

Visit Faraway Night Café

Located on red planet mars

At the base of Olympus Mons

Patron’s backs bent permanently

From staring down into their drinks

Stories sand grains in hourglass

Frozen like hands of clock on wall

Then look away around the room

The mind wonders from place to place

Lamp radiates like tiny sun

Like copy of painting on display

Round number ball on pool table

Imagine is earth and moving

Small trays of spirits and substance

Mix in with shots of loneliness

Even millions of miles from home

Madness rides a traveling ghost

Internal like the universe

The sadness will last forever

Dark Side Of The Moon

Water looks like black tar

Low light shines on lagoon

Looking out round window

On the dark side of the moon

After twelve hours in mines

Guard locks you in small room

Kidnapped years ago to work

On the dark side of the moon

One of many in secret prison

Trapped in a giant cocoon

Unknown corporation worse than death

On the dark side of the moon

Dreams of family and friends

Wish to see them soon

Exhaustion makes sleep easy

On the dark side of the moon

Lost Planet

Between earth and mars

Resides

A ghost of millions of years

Where the planet “Vesta”

Used to be

Its sometimes whispers

It could be you

Lunar Ride

Swallowed by a Monday moon

Slide across a long tongue

Of weightlessness and dust

While hanging in the night sky

Earth shines like a new planet

Instead of thought and home

Caught In Dimension

Travel to other dimension only to find.

Strange forms engaged beneath an unfamiliar tree.

All thoughts marked out of date, inside expanding mind.

While all around spiral-like shapes and spheres swim free.

Package will not wrap bow between inside or out.

With light and darkness, taking turns at trading places.

Sounds bond from altered corners as they speak and shout.

Move in all directions with fluctuating faces.

Buildings stir and transform, depending on the day.

Colors shift opposite and turn different shades.

Mountains dance across the land, engaging in play.

As sky turns up volume or down until it fades.

Labyrinth paths at uncommon levels and heights.

Paintbrush of the unusual count away the nights.

Border of spiral galaxy

Mountain asteroid city shines

Tall ice castle’s close together

Surface cover of cold light snow

A slight lean towards heavy side

Slow spin rotates towns and shadows

From balcony long arms reach out

From hundred million miles away

Underwater Sky

The sea of the universe rotates

Waves of ocean with water-drop stars

Wishing you were close enough

To look into below the surface

Share with all the spirit-voices

Floating windows into the deep

The Last Ride

Let us ride the universe forever

Long before arriving at heavens gate

Let the lords of good and evil play with fate

While the grand gatekeeper holds the lever

Worldly ties will completely sever

With keys of time, no voids to hesitate

Journey across space a believer

Long before arriving at heavens gate

When the final day comes to deliver

Pointed upon the calendars last date.

Let the mighty lords know we will be late

The last breathe a message to receiver

Let us ride the universe forever.

Land of a Million Ghosts

Long before Salem witches

Ghost roamed the Great Plains

Natives respect dark shadows

No battles at stroke of night

Fields of a thousand voices

Hide behind rows of darkness

Stories ride fertile valleys

Whisper across dusty trials

In sparse conditions

Spirits occupy all corners

Footprints call like thunderstorms

Voices from void scream on the range

Each blade of corn and grass

Transforms in moonlit sky

Those who find a signal

Silent and scared to death

Every year more arrive

From crowed graves and cities

Lost roaming herds grown larger

In great Midwest gathering

Rocks

Way back in time when planets formed

Before earth knew water or seas

Surrounding space with endless orbs

Of Mars and Venus wannabes

Varied chunks of all sizes and shapes

All stirred into the cooking pot

Most devoured by gas giants

Their names the present has forgot

Flying segments create craters

Some scars can still be seen today

Several flee solar system

Handful may still moving away

All around buried spheres and globes

Graveyards hidden permanently

While on the edge of Pluto

Asteroids linger patiently

Cygnus X-1

Cygnus X-1 gravity

Little by little

Devours companion star

Until the final fate

From south and north poles

Horizontal jets shoot out

Ejecting new seeds

Deep into space

A grandeur scale

Then lightning and forest fires

Barnacles

Like salt water vessels

Except bottom of boat

Never scraped

After decades of buildup

Lost spaceship

Transforms to meteorite

Launch (Sneeze)

Cosmic allergy sneeze

Released nano-spaceship

Engaged in drill operation

On enamel planet

Breaks free from earth gravity

Land on rock

Size of baseball

Took a year to explore

Had to battle microbes

With tiny little swords

Once mined and welled

Move forever onward

To next small world

Of nuggets and life

Magic Cane

Reflecting swirls of whirlpools

Sparkles wizards dust

Metal statues come alive

Out of web and rust

Multi-prism walls shine

Shatter like mirrored panes

Stained glass figures dance

From within a jeweled cane

From the curve to the end

Out shoots an endless storm

Light beams collide

With every color and form

Walking the Shoreline

On a new planet walking the shoreline

Colors are different not out of place

The sky is a little green just a trace

The air fresh and clear, the light rain divine

Moons measured and counted, total of nine

Each with its round craters, each with a face

Forrest and flowers flowing like red wine

Colors are different not out of place

Feel the sand on the beach, warmth of sunshine

An island that holds its beauty and grace

Monuments scattered left from unknown place

With a breeze, blowing gently all was fine

On a new planet walking the shoreline

Get Off This Rock

The endless motion of stars call

Constant signals sent to us all

Many answers lost in times clock.

The secrets to get off this rock

Beacons pulsing from deep in space

Invitations to leave this place

Clues disappear amongst the flock

The secrets to get off this rock

As galaxies still drift away

Many are wishing for the day

When science finds keys to unlock

The secrets to get off this rock

Time Shift 31

Looking for clean water

Avoided the saber toothed

I noticed in the distance

Only to be the next meal

For a large flightless bird

How the times have changed

Metal Universe

Space lightning burst

Shoots from a star

With emerging wings

Feathers blue at tips

Path strikes comet

Wakes microbes and rocks

Million years later

Lands on planet

Awakes from cradle

Life on minerals form

Time churns next phase

Small to now

Evolution robots roam

Of all shapes and sizes

Determined by surroundings

And cell and metal DNA

Breath air in each lung

Or choice of four gases

Open gills to maximum

Venture deep or swallow

Ten billion years

Before earth appears

Watching us after

And all dark corners

Calculating with more

Than ones and zeros

With formulas and math

Physicist dream of

Old galaxy machine

Waits

With decisions made

Long ago

Sometimes laughs

With colored lights

Mountain With No View

Revenge is easy

Forgiveness a mountain

Wind and erosion whisper

Human race slow

Unknown Beginning

In the beginning

There is no hint of danger

Went on with your lives

Slowly sky turns red

Something leaking from above

Turns surface to rust

Then spaceships appears

Out of thin air like magic

Activates the ground

Mystery substance

Grow into unknown life forms

Pillages the earth

Pirates from afar

Take trees, plants, and animals

Object of all kinds

Armada departs

Loaded full of new treasures

And destination

Sky gently returns

To original color

Rain cleanses the land

The few that remain

Remember nothing at all

Unaware of change

Have no memory

Of their family or friends

No longer with them

Or towns or livestock

That disappeared in the night

The inventions or time lost

All seems quite normal

Another beautiful day

Four thousand B.C
